2016; Puisseguin-Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc.
Made by Pierre Taix. The final blend for this wines comes from three separate cuvees: Merlot from the chalky hillside, which has fantastic precison, whilst the Merlot from the limestone plateau is grippier and more intense. The third cuvee is Merlot from 80 year old vines and this vividly expresses the red berry fruit and minerality. The final blend is 72% Merlot, 26% Cab Franc and 2% Cab Sauvignon and is gloriously fresh and focussed with a hint of 'sauvage' from the violet notes of Cabernet Franc. Delicious now and for the next 10 years.
